Nice! The idea is great imo. BUT i dont get the feeling of spring. First, the colors (cooler blue/brown ish hues) are more suggestive of fall. Id expect warmer, more vibrant colors. I think the colors you have now would be ok in the background (kinda representing the end of winter), then warmer colors in the forground would really bring home the "regenerating" vibe (though you've captured that quite well with the energy of the foreground)

Second....and this is the part really throwing me off....is the spread pattern of the particles seems to suggest they are being blown off the tree (which is suggestive of fall also). If you could find a way to make them "attracted" to the tree, i think it would work better.

One other minor crit, and that is some small rotation in the plus signs would add interest. Just to break up the composition.

Overall though, im liking it. You could even make a copy, have one per season or something.
